Rovaniemi ice swimming prices, side by side
The cheapest ice swim near Rovaniemi is also the shortest, ~$89 for 1.5 private hours in a river sauna you reach on your own. At the other end, ~$172 buys four hours with pickup and a salmon dinner. Between them sit a lakeside home sauna and a forest sauna with a campfire, and the gaps say more about transport and food than about the cold water.
Four sauna evenings at a glance
Each row shows one of the four trips we compare, at its usual starting price per person. The figure on the booking page can shift with your date and the size of your party, so read these numbers as a floor.
| Trip | From | Length | Transport | Group | Setting | Food | Listing includes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pajasauna, private river sauna (our pick) | ~$89 | 1.5 h | None; bus 14 or taxi | Private, up to 5 | 1958 sauna on the Kemijoki | None | Sauna, ice hole, towels, clogs, hairdryer, drinking water |
| Nordic Adventures, lakeside home sauna | ~$101 | 3.5 h | Hotel pickup or Koskikatu 12 | Shared, up to 15 | The hosts' lakeside home | Snacks and drinks by the fireplace | Wood-fired sauna, ice hole, guide's sauna history |
| NordicUnique Travels, sauna and BBQ | ~$145 | 3 h | Pickup within 10 km | Private, 2–12 | Forest cabins by a frozen lake | Campfire BBQ, hot drinks, gingerbread | Sauna, ice swim, towel, slippers, guide |
| Nordic Adventures, sauna and salmon dinner | ~$172 | 4 h | Pickup from about 15 hotels | Shared, small groups | Arctic lake north of town | Salmon dinner, soft drinks | Sauna, ice hole, towels, slippers, guide |
Ratings run from 4.3 to 5.0 across the four. So the price gap mostly buys transport and food, plus extra hours, rather than a better sauna.
Why the cheapest swim is also the shortest
Pajasauna's private river sauna at ~$89 is the lowest price here. It buys 1.5 hours in a wood-heated sauna from 1958, with the Kemijoki outside the door and nobody but your party inside, up to five people.
Viator shows it from a slightly lower figure and says the price varies by group size. The per-person rate may assume a fuller group, so check the total for two before you pay.
The low price leaves out transport and food, and the session lasts ninety minutes rather than a whole evening. Its ratings are the strongest of the four, and our close look at the 1958 sauna covers the place itself.

The lowest price for a private river sauna
Pajasauna's 1.5-hour session on the Kemijoki, booked for your party alone, with the ice hole plus towels and clogs. Plan the bus or a taxi yourself.
What a pickup adds to the bill
Nordic Adventures' lakeside home sauna at ~$101 collects you from your hotel or from the Rovaniemi Tourist Information at Koskikatu 12. The sauna time at the hosts' own home runs to about 1.5–2 hours. Snacks and drinks follow by the fireplace.
It sells on Viator only and holds 5.0 from 32 reviews, a small but spotless record. The group is shared and capped at 15, and children under 14 cannot join.
NordicUnique Travels at ~$145 includes pickup from hotels up to 10 km (6 miles) from the center. Your group has the forest cabins to itself, and the evening closes with a campfire BBQ of sausages and hot blueberry juice on the frozen lake.
The jacuzzi option costs more than the base price, and swimsuit rental adds about 15 euros. It scores 4.3 from 100+ reviews, the lowest of the four, and several reviewers felt the hour in the sauna and jacuzzi went by fast.
The dinner evening costs the most
Nordic Adventures' sauna and salmon dinner at ~$172 is the dearest trip on the list. For that you get four hours with van pickup from about 15 hotels and a sauna by an Arctic lake north of town.
A smoked or blazed salmon dinner with baked potatoes follows in a wooden cottage, and that meal plus the transfers explains much of the gap. Ratings sit at 4.8 from 100+ on GetYourGuide and 4.9 from 100+ on Viator.
The weak spot is the shared sauna. One reviewer found seven people in one room crowded and felt the heat drop, so a private trip may suit you better if space matters.
Evening departures from late October to mid-March also carry a chance of aurora, which nobody can promise. Our northern lights guide explains why the sky decides, and the four-hour dinner guide walks through the evening.
Extras the prices leave out
None of the four prices covers the whole night. A few small items turn up again and again. Keep a card or a little cash handy.
- Bus 14 fare or a taxi both ways for Pajasauna, which has no transport
- Swimsuit rental on the NordicUnique trip, about 15 euros, unless you bring your own
- The jacuzzi tier on the same trip, sold at a higher price
- A beer at Pajasauna, which the listing mentions; ask the host before you count on it
- A tip for the guide or host, if you want to leave one
- Dinner in town after Pajasauna, which serves no food
A swimsuit matters most on the dinner evening, where you must bring your own. Our packing list sorts out the rest, from a hat to a dry bag.
Cancelling and paying later
All four trips cancel free up to 24 hours before the start. GetYourGuide also offers reserve now and pay later, so you can hold a slot while you watch the forecast.
Cold snaps and delayed flights are common in Lapland in winter, which makes that flexibility useful. If you have not fixed your dates yet, our guide to the ice season helps you pick them.
Which price fits which traveler
For a short, private sauna with the river to yourselves, Pajasauna gives the most for the least. That holds as long as you sort out the bus or a taxi, which our transport guide explains.
If you would rather have the transport handled and something warm afterward, the ~$101 home sauna is the middle ground. Choose the ~$172 dinner evening when the meal and the aurora chance are part of the plan.
Company can matter as much as money; our private or group comparison deals with that. New to cold water? The first-timer's walkthrough explains each round.
